Cycling, even recreational, is the sport that requires significant efforts. Therefore it is very important to find rest, in a good and comfortable bed. After a strenuous ride one needs good refreshment. Along the routes there are many excellent restaurants, inns, pizza parlours, fishermen's houses, and passing through the wine-growing areas you can stop at some of many wine houses with extensive offer of top quality wines. Beside the wine, they can offer you, with a previous appointment, also a large selection of local specialties.

    CULTURE

The areas along the Mura and Drava rivers are rich with cultural sights on both rivers' banks. Numerous churches, renovated castles, classic and topic museums, collections and galleries, and other interesting locations come one after another. Numerous archaeological sites witness the population in early ages, and the autochthonous cultural heritage and old crafts are still alive in numerous cultural-artistic associations. Together, these areas make a diverse collection which will bring the visitor to think about the abundant past and present cultural events in these areas.

Sometimes it appears that the landscape along the Mura and Drava river still lives in the untouched harmony with the nature. Many natural features, such as thermal springs and dead backwaters of the Mura river, or Drava that flows through many urban centres and at some parts is fenced with artificial embankments but still it seems not to interfere with its coexistence with the nature, are nicely complemented with theme paths, arranged locations, natural attractions, and in particular the preserved nature. Together they all make perfect scenery for rest away from the city noise.

  5. SPORTS AND RECREATION

Beyond any doubt, for you as active sportsmen, other sports activities offered along the Mura or Drava river will also be appealing. Whereas the river Mura is, due to its favourable characteristics and fast flow, ideal for rafting and canoeing, Drava is more suitable for fishing and swimming at the beaches of the reservoir lakes, offering a pleasant refreshment for tired legs after cycling on summer days. Near the cycling tracks you will easily find other classic sports activities, including horse-riding, tennis courts and swimming pools.

Getting a quality information from the competent person is of great, sometimes even crucial, importance, especially when you are away from home. Therefore the tourist information centres and tourist agencies are entered; there you can get all the important information on the tracks in that area, cultural and natural sights, rent-a-bike locations and other tourist information. Furthermore you can find info on bicycle services, cycling-guides and ambulances, as well as the railway stations from where you can easily reach other interesting areas.
